Obituary of Phyllis A. Swanson
Phyllis A. Swanson, 96, of 141 Myrtle St. passed away at 1:00 a.m. Monday (April 29, 2013) in the Heritage Park Rehab and Skilled Nursing Facility.
A lifelong area resident she was born April 9, 1917 in Jamestown, NY a daughter of the late Eric and Lucy Anderson.
She was a graduate of Jamestown High School Class of 1935 where she served as her class Vice President.
Before her retirement she was secretary to the President, the late John Hamilton, of the former Chautauqua National Bank, where she worked for 20 years.
She was the longest attending member of the Pilgrim Memorial United Church of Christ serving on several boards over the years. She was a member of the Retired Bank Women and also a member of the Norden Women's Club.
Surviving are several nieces and nephews including, Sally DeVine and David Swanson of Jamestown, Mary Kay Quiggle of Painted Post, NY, Ned Swanson of Herndon, VA, James Swanson of Casselberry, FL, Susan Swanson of Arlington, VA, and two cousins Cindy Rogerson and Sally Teater both of Jamestown.
She was preceded in death by her husband Ford L. Swanson whom she married January 19, 1946 and who died November 2, 1994.
The funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday in the Pilgrim Memorial United Church of Christ. The Rev. Dana Douglas, pastor will officiate. Burial will be in the Lake View Cemetery.
Friends will be received for one hour prior to the service on Thursday in the church.
