Anne and I were docents at Bok Tower Gardens in Lake Wales, Florida several years ago. One rainy day we were sitting on the upstairs landing of this lovely house and chatting.
“Where is your family from?” Anne asked.
“Upstate New York.” I answered.
“Oh, so are mine. My son went to RIT.”
“Mine, too”, I replied.
Anne continued, “But they don’t live in Rochester, they live in Jamestown.”
“So do mine,” I said kinda surprised.
“Well, it’s not Jamestown exactly, it West Ellicott she explained.
“I KNOW , I said,” that’s where my son and his family live, too.”
We both called home and discovered that her son Tom and his wife Susie were good friends and near neighbors of my son, Brian Storms and his wife Wendy! ! What are the chances? We immediately hugged each other and felt like we were practically related. We got a lot of mileage out of telling that story at Bok Tower, and we were instant friends.
I miss her here, and extend my sympathy to her family.
