Obituary of Richard E. Johnson
Richard E. Johnson, 88, formerly of 254 Barrett Ave., Jamestown, died April 1, 2010, in Montgomery, Ala. Since 2004, he had lived in Wetumpka, Ala., and then in Sunbridge in Elmore, Ala.
He was born in Jamestown on Nov. 13, 1921, a son of Carl and Emma Larson Johnson. He was a 1940 graduate of Jamestown High School. He was a WWII veteran of the US Army serving in the Corps of Engineers in England and France. He was employed by the Post-Journal in the advertising department from 1955 until his retirement in 1985. He was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Arline Smith Johnson, whom he married Aug. 17, 1946, and who died Dec. 26, 2003.
Surviving are a son Craig (Deborah Gaynor) Johnson of Wetumpka, Ala.; brother Roger (Marilyn) Johnson of Jamestown; grandchildren Eric C. Johnson of Wetumpka and Sarah Johnson (Daniel) Hutcherson of Montgomery; great-grandchild, Daniel Lee Hutcherson III; and nieces Beth Johnson and Lori Johnson (Mark) Nystrom of Jamestown.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in the Lind Funeral Home.
Burial will be in Lake View Cemetery.
Family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home.
