Obituary of Rebecca C. Eden

Rebecca C. Eden, 100, formerly of 65 Woodworth Ave. and Sunset Bay, died at 10:27 p.m. Thursday (April 7, 2010) at the Lutheran Home & Rehabilitation Center. She had resided at Hultquist Place for the past three years. A lifelong area resident, she was born in Jamestown on September 16, 1909, the daughter of the late Carl and Hilda Carlson and graduated from Jamestown High School in 1927. Rebecca had been employed for many years by the former Empire Mutual Insurance Co. in Jamestown. She was a member of the Mt. Sinai-Mecca Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star. Some of her favorite times were spent reading and playing bridge with friends. She had also enjoyed golf in earlier years. Surviving is a daughter, Diane E. Fargo of Jamestown; two grandchildren, Timothy Fargo of Jamestown and Julie Cardinale of Celoron; and two great-grandchildren, Michael Cardinale of Seoul, South Korea and Mathew Cardinale of Jamestown. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry N. Eden whom she married May 15, 1930 and who died July 16, 1994; and a brother, Roderick Carlson. The funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Daniel S. Rumfelt will officiate. Burial will be in Lake View Cemetery. Friends will be received for one hour prior to the service in the funeral home Saturday. Memorials may be made to Hospice Chautauqua County, 20 W.
