Obituary of Mavis J. Curry
Mavis J. Curry, 83, formerly of 70 Conewango Ave. Celoron died at 9:45 p.m. Tuesday (April 13, 2010) in the Heritage Green Rehab and Skilled Nursing Facility.
An area resident for most of her life she was born September 5, 1926 in Coalport, PA. a daughter of the late Andrew and Mae Diller Sinclair.
She was a 1944 graduate of the Beccaria High School in Coalport, PA.
She was a member of the Bethel Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School and was a teacher during Vacation Bible School. In earlier years she was active in the Celoron Parent Teacher Association.
Surviving are two sons William E. (Nancy) Curry, Jr., James A. (Jan) Curry, Sr. both of Busti, NY, two daughters, Nancy A. (Tim) Hunt of Jamestown, NY, Susan J. (Ron) Valdman of Mentor, OH, seven grandchildren, Allison King of North Port, FL, Melissa Gutierrez of Erie, PA, Benjamin Curry of Buffalo, NY, Kimberly A. Hunt of Celoron, NY, James A. Curry, Jr. of Panama, NY, Nicole P. Curry of Celoron, NY, Brian W. Valdman of Mentor, OH and 10 great grandchildren.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband William E. Curry, Sr. whom she married April 23, 1948 and who died October 14, 2000, three sisters Sarah M. Troxell, Grace Reese, Lorraine Bloom and six brothers Wesley, Frank, Andrew, Jack, Tom and Lad Sinclair.
The funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. James Read, pastor of the Bethel Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will be in the Sunset Hill Cemetery.
Friends will be received from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Friday in the funeral home.
