Obituary of Michael A. Burns
Michael A. Burns, 67, of 1351 North Main St. passed away Sunday (March 21, 2010) in the Roswell Park Cancer Institute, Buffalo, NY, following a courageous three year battle with B-Mantle Cell Lymphoma.
A lifelong area resident he was born March 30, 1942 in Dunkirk, NY a son of the late Francis V. and Mary Gwendolyn Rogers Burns.
Mike was a 1960 graduate of Jamestown High School and a 1964 graduate of the University of Buffalo.
Prior to his retirement he was employed by Castrol Industries a division of B.P. of Charleston, SC where he was the manager of the fluid division for 10 years. In earlier years he had been employed by the Kimberly Clark Corporation, Graphic Controls and was head of personal for the former Dahlstrom Manufacturing Corporation for 21 years.
He was a member of the Lakewood Rod & Gun Club and had enjoyed spending time at the Viking Lake Park over the years.
He will be remembered as a loving and caring husband, father and grandfather who loved spending time with his family and friends. His daughters called him the best dad ever. He loved boating on Chautauqua Lake with the "friends of the boat people" and enjoyed playing tennis with his tennis group.
Surviving are his wife the former Millicent "Millie" E. Hart whom he married August 19, 1961, two daughters Tracey Luce of Randolph, NY, Heidi Lankford of Pitts. PA, five grandchildren Aaron and Lindsey Brown of Randolph, Alex and Austin Lankford of Pitts, Ericka S. Curry of Dallas, TX and two sisters Ann Budniewski of Dunkirk, NY, Jennifer Burns of Littleton, CO.
A memorial service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday April 17th in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Donald E. Ray, retired chaplain of W.C.A. Hospital will officiate.
