Obituary of John E. Johnson

He was born November 25, 1947 in Warren, PA, a son of the late Lawrence and Edna McGukin Johnson. John was a Vietnam veteran, serving in the US Navy from 1968 to 1969. He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church. John loved fishing with his grandchildren and also enjoyed crafts, especially plastic canvas. Surviving is his wife, Virginia Ferry Johnson, whom he married February 14, 1993; five children: Jane Sherley, John E. Johnson Jr., Shawn Abbey, Cora Hodges and Catherine Hodges; eleven grandchildren and a great-granddaughter; and three sisters: Irene Buchanan, Edith McKillip and Ruth Jackson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday in the Lind Funeral Home. Pastor Jim Read will officiate. Inurnment will be in the Pine Grove Cemetery, Russell, PA. Friends will be received for one hour prior to the service in the funeral home Wednesday.
