Obituary of Grace S. Champlin
Grace S. Champlin, 87, of Wellington, FL, formerly of Frewsburg, NY, died peacefully on Sunday (May 2, 2010) at the Wellington Regional Hospital.
She was born December 1, 1922, the daughter of James and Lydia Hutchins Hopkins and raised in Sinclairville, NY. During the 1940's, she spent many years as a waitress at Gretchen's Kitchen, and also worked at the Big N, Period Brass, and Julia's Restaurant.
Grace was a member of the Frewsburg American Legion Post #556 Auxiliary. She was an avid golfer and loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband Earl S. Champlin whom she married October 23, 1943 in Tucson, AZ while Earl was in the Air Force; two sons, Craig (Sandy) Champlin of Panama City, FL; Bryan (Vickie) Champlin Sr. of Kennedy, NY; a daughter, Brenda (Ralph) Morris of Jamestown; five grandchildren, Bryan Champlin Jr.; Gina (Joe) Gerace; Jodell (Bill) Hyldahl; Allison Champlin; Megan Champlin; 17 great grandchildren; and a sister, Onnolee Goodwill of Gerry, NY.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, June Dustin.
The funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Donald E. Ray will officiate.
Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday and for one hour prior to the service Friday in the funeral home.
