Obituary of Carl R. Croft

Carl Richard Croft, 94, of 165 Aldren Ave., Jamestown, NY formerly of Sun City Center, FL, died at 11:50 a.m. Saturday (May 15, 2010) in the Lutheran Home and Rehabilitation Center. Carl was born December 14, 1915 in Milton, PA a son of the late John Blair and Arlean Haas Croft. He lived in Milton, PA until his later teen years when he moved to Buffalo, NY where he attended the University of Buffalo. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving as a medic in World War II. Following his discharge from the Army he spent his working years employed by a division of Kraft Corporation rising to the position of Manager of the Sealtest Ice Cream Plant in Jamestown, NY and Olean, NY. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Tonawanda, NY and a member of the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite in Jamestown and the Ismalia Shrine Temple of Buffalo, NY. He was also a former member of the Moon Brook Country Club, the Lakewood Rod & Gun Club and while living in Florida was a member of the St. Andrew Presbyterian Church and the Caloosa Country Club and also spent time serving in the Rotary Club. Surviving are his children Arlean Croft Golden of Atlanta, GA, Sandra (Richard) Pierce of Austin, TX, William (Patricia) Hazenberg, Charles (Arline) Hazenberg all of Jamestown, Constance (James) Stubblefield of Hazel, KY, many grandchildren and great grandchildren and a sister Gretchen Hale Spangenberg of North Port, FL. He was preceded in death by his first wife the former Alice Elizabeth Parsons Croft who died in 1978, his second wife of 29 years the former Margaret L. Blackford Hazenberg Croft who died just three weeks ago on April 20, 2010. A private memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family. Inurnment will be in the Sunset Hill Cemetery. Visitation will not be observed observed. Memorials may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Crippled Children, 1645 West 8th St., Erie, PA 16505-5097.
