Thank you all for your candles. I really enjoyed the walks down memory lane that they brought forth. I still can't believe he's really gone, but everyone has been so supportive, it has helped me a lot.

For the 6 years we lived in Jamestown, our family spent a lot of time at the 'Y'. Don & June were both active in the fitness programs and Don, thanks to Jack & Ted Olsen, served as Membership Co-Chair & Board Member. Daughter Alice started swimming at 2 years. It was a wonderful time to be a 'Y' booster and Jack led the movement. He was dedicated and enthusiastic and it impacted all of us. Our thoughts and prayers are with Kay & Nancy.

Jack Wheeler. The name is synonymous with Jamestown.
Mr. Wheeler was and will always be an essential part of what is great about Jamestown. Kind, personable, funny, compassionate, God's stewardship, and service. Those are the traits that Mr. Wheeler lived everyday. Jack took to heart the values and teaching of the "Young Men's Christian Association". The number of people and lives that he touched at the Y, at St. Luke's and in his everyday life is amazing. There was a time when Jack, Spiro Bello, Mike were the trifecta of talent that the Y was blessed to have. Some of my favorite memories were running errands downtown with my dad. Virtually every trip
woould end up with a visit to Jack's office of President of the Y. I can still see the door that we had to go through to get there. Dad would usually go back, unannounced of course, and Jack would stop what he was doing and make time. We would sit and talk, or laugh, or catch up on the days going ons. In all the years that I
knew Jack I never once heard him complain. About anything. Not the pressures of the day, or family health matters. Nothing. Instead he always had a smile, and an open hand to shake. Mr. Wheeler as we celebrate your life today, we give God thanks for reminding us of the very best in ourselves and in our community by the way that you lived your life.
Godspeed and God Bless. Pals Forever. Love Chris Olsen

Jack was our neighbor that we shared a driveway with. I remember when we bought the house, it was our first and we were very excited and we moved in in December during a blizzard. Jack and Steve were the first 2 to walk out in the worst day of the month and introduced themselves. They were so nice, we were also sad to hear of Steve's passing. After we moved out we would run into them once in a while and we would stand forever and just talk about everything that was going on. I still drive by the old house just to see the neighborhood. It ewill now be sad to drive by there. God bless you Jack and say hello to Steve for us now that you are together again. Will miss seeing your smile.

Mr. Wheeler and I became good friends in the 12 years I served as the business manager at the Jamestown Y. He was already retired but I got to know him through his daily visits and Men of Meditation. We so enjoyed talking about our favorite restaurants around the country. I loved hearing about his various trips. What a truly fine gentleman!
With sympathy and prayers,

I was a member of the "Y" from the mid-60's until the late 70's when I moved away. Mr. Wheeler did an excellent job with the facility and was a true gentleman. Even when I would return to Jamestown in the mid-80's, he would still remember me and always had time for a friendly chat. He and his staff made the "Y" a truly special place.
