Obituary of Nancy O. Newgreen

Nancy O. Newgreen, 83, of Jamestown, died at 11:45 p.m. Tuesday May 18, 2010, in WCA Hospital. A Jamestown native, she was born February 27, 1927, the daughter of Clifford and Marjorie Smith Osmer. She was a 1945 graduate of Jamestown High School. Prior to her retirement in 1985 she was employed by the former Bigelow's Department Store for 13 years working as the manager of the book department. She was a member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church. The time spent as a military wife traveling throughout the United States was a fond memory for her. She enjoyed music, solving crossword puzzles and doing needlework. Nancy will be remembered for her joy of life, laughter and was dearly loved by her many friends and relatives. Surviving are a son USAF Lt. Col. (Ret.) Terry (Ellyn) Newgreen of St. Petersburg, FL; two daughters Jorie (Bill) Senter of Denver, CO and Dennie Welshimer of Chicopee, MA; six grandchildren Ryan (Paula) Senter, Kelly Sabino, Kyle and Austin Newgreen, Eric and Adam Welshimer; three great grandchildren Marissa Sabino, LeaRae Walker and Emilyn Welshimer; several cousins, nieces and nephews; and a brother Clifford A Osmer, Jr. of Grantham, NH. She was preceded in death by her former husband Lt. Col. (Ret.) Walter F. Newgreen January 3, 1992 and a son Scott D. Newgreen June 25, 2001. A graveside service will be held at noon Saturday in Lake View Cemetery. Rev. Susan Anslow Williams, associate rector of St. Luke's will officiate. Friends will be received in Nancy's home following the service.
