Obituary of Gertrude L. Anderson

Gertrude L. "Trudy" Anderson, 95, of the Loyalton of Lakewood, formerly of 525 Lakeview Ave. in Jamestown, died at 7:04 p.m. Tuesday (June 1, 2010) in WCA Hospital. She was the widow of the late Gerald E. "Peck" Anderson, whom she married August 22, 1935 and who died June 19, 1975. A lifelong area resident, Trudy was born February 18, 1915 in Jamestown, the daughter of the late Julius E. and Lillian Hultquist Peterson. She and her late husband owned and operated the former Maddox Table Company in Jamestown. A member of First Presbyterian Church, she had also belonged to the Jamestown Garden Club, WCA Hospital Auxiliary, Creche, Chautauqua Lake Yacht Club, Moonbrook Country Club and the Town Club of Jamestown. Trudy loved horses throughout her life and enjoyed showing them in earlier years. She had continued to ride until her 80's, still owning a horse, 'Babe', in 1998. She is survived by a daughter, Marcia A. Witfield of Tillson, NY; a granddaughter, Anne Gullickson and her fianc, Gregg Jones of Kingston, NY; and two great-grandchildren, Gavin and Onnika Gullickson of Kingston. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Thomas A. Sweet will officiate. Inurnment will be in Lake View Cemetery. Friends will be received for one hour prior to the service in the funeral home Friday.
