Obituary of Richard C. Cooper
Richard C. Cooper, 85, formerly of Almet Avenue, Falconer and South Hanford Avenue, West Ellicott, died Wednesday June 2, 2010, in Avondell Assisted Living, Bel Air, MD.
A Jamestown native, he was born August 9, 1924, a son of the late Richard and Pearl Stormer Cooper.
He was a WWII veteran of the US Navy.
He graduated from Jamestown High School in 1943 and later from Buffalo State Teachers College in 1950.
He was employed by TRW in Falconer as a service engineer.
He was a member of the former Westminster Presbyterian Church.
Surviving are two sons Gene (Joni) Cooper of Bel Air, MD and Dana (Deborah) Cooper of Yardley, PA; grandchildren Aleris Cooper, Sgt. Benjamin (Diana) Cooper USMC, Jennifer Cooper, Kimberly (Heath) Dewrell and Jonathan Cooper; two sisters Margery Recker of Atlanta, GA and Patricia (John) Lawrence of Jamestown.
He was preceded in death by his wife the former Shirley Lowry who died October 22, 2008 and a sister Arlene Wigren.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in the Lind Funeral Home. Rev. Donald E. Ray will officiate.
Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery.
Friends will be received for one hour prior to the service in the funeral home.
