I think about you often. It makes me sad to think that I cannot call you, though I never did much. I miss you and think about you all the time. I miss you so much! You were an inspiration to me growing up, I always wanted to be like you. I still remember and hope I never forget the last thing you said to me. "David, one thing I know for sure... no one could say I didn't have fun".
I love you brother!

John,
I miss you. I wish we had spent more time together like we kept talking about doing.
You left this earth way too early.
We will see you again though.

Standing next to John on his wedding day to hear the heart of his bride, Julie, brought tremendous thankfulness and relief. I knew he was receiving a wife who would bring healing and restoration to his hurting heart.
He grew up the youngest for many years, but was so ill prepared to face the pain and challenges of life in a shattered family. As my younger brother, John's determined spirit and honesty always amazed me, causing me to desire to be the same.
I overheard him say to my Dad once, that he couldn't just sit around and sing songs to Jesus like me. John couldn't be satisfied to wear his beliefs like a badge, but instead endeavored to BE a true friend, like many of you have said.
Having Johnny for a younger brother was an incredible gift that I only wish I would have always known and appreciated.
He was the dearest of the six of us to my mom because of his loyalty no matter what. He wanted to look beyond faults and meet needs.
Julie, thank you for giving your heart to him. May you be strengthened and comforted in his absence.

Oh Juls, I am so sorry. It's so damn hard to say good-bye and let go. Know that he is finally at peace and be happy for HIM. He is in a much better place than us. Always keep him in your heart and be glad for the chance to have known and loved him. As the days and weeks go by it will become easier for you to shake off the sadness and every time you think of him-it will be with a smile. You are in my prayers. I love you my dear friend.

If you break a child in half and then break him again in quarters...and then tell him to walk straight and tall and proud...what would he look like?
He would look like John Wootten.
John was a straight shooter who had your back. He was my most excellent friend and brother. I loved him. It really doesn't get much better than that.
I expect that John is now thanking God for His grace and tender mercy. He left expecting to see God and was sorry for his sins.
I thank God for John. May the Lord please have mercy on those of us that miss him.
May we make good orderly decisions as John desired, and be most thankful for our friends.
Great pic of John Jules!
