Obituary of Warren A. Peterson

Warren Alfred Peterson, 81, of Heritage Green Rehab and Skilled Nursing, formerly of Baltimore, MD, died Sunday March 21, 2010, in WCA Hospital, Emergency Department. A Jamestown native, he was born June 3, 1928, the son of Sven Emil and Ethel Louise Carlson Peterson. He was a 1946 graduate of Jamestown High School and was confirmed at First Lutheran Church. He later graduated from the University of Chicago's School of Architecture, and received a bachelor's degree in 1952 and a master's degree in 1953, both in architecture from Yale University. During the year 1953-54 he held the Magnus T. Hopper Memorial Fellowship in Hospital Design and Planning. In 1953 he was appointed a Fellow of the American Academy, Rome, Italy, (FAAR '55) where he went and lived for two years as the recipient of the Rome Prize in Architecture. At that time he traveled extensively throughout Europe and the Near East studying architecture and planning. In 1960 he moved to Baltimore to join the firm of Myers and Ayers. In 1964 he formed the firm, Peterson and Brickbauer, Inc, with Warren serving as founding partner and president. Over the firm's more than thirty years in existence they received several national architectural awards. Following retirement Mr. Peterson worked as a consultant, but also found time to travel for enjoyment. Surviving are a sister Shirley Raymond of West Ellicott, a niece Susan L.R. (James) Jones of Jamestown and a nephew Bruce F. (Ginger) Raymond of Bemus Point. A private service will be held at the convenience of the family. Inurnment will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery. Visitation will not be observed. Memorials may be made to a charity of choice. Arrangements are by the Lind Funeral Home.
