Obituary of Betty M. Piazza

Betty M. Piazza, 87, of 51 Hammond St., died Wednesday February 24, 2010, in WCA Hospital. A Jamestown native, she was born March 30, 1922, a daughter of the late Allan and Ethel Ayling Morton. She was a graduate of Chautauqua High School and attended Myer Memorial Hospital School of Nursing, Buffalo. She enjoyed solving crossword puzzles and reading, particularly mysteries. She was especially fond of her cat Snowball. Surviving are four children Jeanne (Charlie) Kent and Anne Piazza, both of Jamestown, Thomas (Karin) Piazza of Lakewood and Michael Piazza, with whom she made her home, two grandsons Scott Kent of Orlando, FL and Patrick Kent of Falconer and a great grandson Jonathan Kent of Falconer. She was preceded in death by her husband Sam Piazza, whom she married March 9, 1951 and who died September 23, 1990 and two brothers Roland and Philip Morton. The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in the Lind Funeral home. Rev. Donald E. Ray will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery. Friends will be received from 6-8 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Chautauqua County Humane Society, 2825 Strunk Rd., Jamestown, NY 14701
