Obituary of Ella Dora Nelson

Dora Nelson, 89, of 287 Southland Ave., Lakewood, died Monday February 22, 2010, in WCA Hospital. A native of Brookville, PA, she was born April 24, 1920, a daughter of the late Harvey and Cora Zimmerman Allshouse. Prior to her retirement in 1982, she was employed for 39 years by Weber-Knapp as a factory worker. She was a longtime member of Lakewood United Methodist Church. She was also a member of Lakewood-Busti Senior Citizens. She enjoyed embroidery, cross stitch and gardening. Surviving are a step son Larry (Carol) Nelson of Frewsburg, a step daughter Janet (James) Erickson of Stow, OH, three grandchildren Brian (Sara) Nelson, Ashley (Nick) Marucci and Kristen (Jeff) Gardner, four great grandchildren Deacon and jack nelson and Evan and Isaac Gardner, a twin sister Doris Johns Smith of Brookville, PA and a sister Betty (Ben) Carroll of Cabot, PA. She was preceded in death by her husband Alfred Nelson, whom she married September 18, 1951 and who died November 10, 1982, and three brothers Wilson, Donald and Ralph Allshouse. The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday in Lakewood United Methodist Church. Rev. Violet A. Davidson will officiate. Burial will be in Brookville, PA. Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday in the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Lakewood United Methodist Church Organ Fund, 164 Shadyside Ave, Lakewood, NY 14750.
