Obituary of Daniel T. McCollum

Daniel T. McCollum, Sr. 78, of 43 Falconer St., Jamestown died at 7:30 a.m. Wednesday (February 17, 2010) in the Heritage Park Rehab and Skilled Nursing Facility. A Chautauqua County resident for most of his life he was born August 1, 1931 in Geneva, NY a son of the late Andrew and Jane Dovoli McCollum. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving from January 2, 1951 to December 31, 1952 during the Korean War. Following his tour of active duty he also served in the Army Reserves. Before his retirement he was employed as a laborer for the Laborers Union Local # 600 for 35 years. He was a member of the War Vets Recreation Club and the American Legion. Surviving are two sons Daniel T. McCollum, Jr. and Dale A. McCollum both of Jamestown, and two sisters Mary Jane Ruffalo, Katherine Conlin both of Newark, NY. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his wife the former Delores Calanni McCollum who died January 28, 2008 and a brother Andrew McCollum. The funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Darrell Duffy, pastor of St. James Catholic Church will officiate. Burial will be in the St. Joseph's Cemetery, Sheridan, NY. Friends will be received from 12:00 - 2:00 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home.
