Obituary of Gerald J. Andolora
Gerald J. Andolora, 59, of 11 West 8th Street in Jamestown passed away Saturday (February 13, 2010) at the Buffalo VA Medical Center after a battle with cancer.
He was born July 4, 1950 in Jamestown, a son of Frances Grillo Andolora and the late Samuel Andolora. He attended Jamestown schools and graduated in 1968 from Jamestown High School. Following graduation, he joined the US Air Force and served overseas during the Vietnam War.
After leaving the service, he attended and graduated from the Culinary Institute of America in New Hyde Park, NY. He later worked as a chef in several states.
Following a career change, Jerry received his Bachelors Degree in Business Administration after his 50th birthday from Empire State College, graduating with a 4.0 average. He also holds several degrees in business and computers from Jamestown Community College.
A member of Holy Apostles Parish, Ss Peter & Paul Church, Jerry was a 3rd degree member of the Knights of Columbus and also belonged to the Elks and the Henry Mosher Post #638 American Legion.
In addition to his mother of Jamestown, surviving is a son, Anthony Andolora of Fort Worth, TX; four brothers: Ronald Andolora of Fort Worth, David and Richard Andolora of Jamestown, and Tom Andolora of New York City; a sister, Sandra (Bill) Clinton of Seattle, WA; a nephew, Nick Andolora of Myrtle Beach, SC; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father, Samuel who died in 1982.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Thursday at Ss Peter & Paul Church. The Rev. Dennis W. Mende will be celebrant. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in the Lind Funeral Home, where a Christian Wake Service will be held at 1:45 p.m.
