Obituary of Bruce R. Griffin
Bruce R. Griffin, 71, formerly of 80 S. Main St Montrose, PA, went home to be with his Lord at 3:10 p.m. Friday (February 5, 2010) at the Heritage Green Rehab and Skilled Nursing Facility in Greenhurst, NY.
He was born July 23, 1938 in Scranton, PA the son of the late Russell H. and Edna E. Dillon Griffin. Bruce was a 1957 graduate of Montrose Area High School, and prior to retirement, worked for the Common Wealth of PA as a custodian.
Bruce was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Montrose. He enjoyed rose gardening, photography, reading the newspaper, and Bible study books. He also enjoyed watching Christian programming on TV and listening to country and gospel music. Bruce was a train enthusiast and loved his pets, especially his cat, Fluffy. While at Heritage Green, he was a member of the Gopher's men's group.
Surviving are a brother, David Griffin of Laurinburg, NC; a sister, Janet Fowler of Jamestown; two nieces, Lisa (Stanley) Moschler of Chatham, VA; Joy (Rusty) Hine of Laurinburg; a nephew, Russell Fowler of Jamestown; three great nieces; three great nephews; and close friends, Joe and Esther Weldon of Montrose, PA.
He was preceded in death by his father on September 21, 1981, and his mother, on October 21, 1996.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday February 10, 2010 in the Lind Funeral Home 805 West Third St Jamestown, NY. The Rev. Richard Young, pastor of First Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will be in Lake View Cemetery in Jamestown.
Friends will be received for one hour prior to the service Wednesday in the funeral home.
