Obituary of Audrey L. Feather

Audrey L. Feather, 84, of 546 South Main St. passed away at 3:15 p.m. Monday (February 1, 2010) in the Lutheran Home and Rehabilitation Center. A lifelong area resident she was born February 4, 1925 in Jamestown, NY a daughter of the late Carl Signor and Josie Scott Liedblad. Audrey was a 1943 graduate of Jamestown High School and after raising her family entered the nursing field and was a 1972 graduate of the Jamestown Community College School of Nursing. Before her retirement she was the founder, owner and operator of the Goodell Home for 6 years. She had previously worked as a registered nurse for the former Jamestown General Hospital and the Warren State Hospital. In earlier years she was a cashier for the former Rockman's Super Duper for 13 years and also for the former Southside Food Shop. She was a life member of the former Epworth Christ United Methodist Church and was a very active member of the Christ First United Methodist Church. She served as past president and treasurer for the United Methodist Women. She also served as a Sunday school teacher for many years and was director of the junior choir and a member of the bell choir for several years. She was also a member of the ADC Society, her high school sorority that has been together for 69 years. Audrey will be remembered as a fine Christian woman who lived her life based on the teachings of John Wesley, do all the good you can, by all the means you can, in all the ways you can, in all the places you can, at all the times you can, to all the people you can, as long as ever you can and finally, stay in love with God. Surviving are a son Melvin L. "Mel" Feather of Frewsburg, NY, a daughter Nancy Jo (Douglas) Liedblad of Newbury Park, CA and a grandson Kyle A. Liedblad of Newbury Park, CA, a daughter in law Verna Feather of Jamestown and also survived by several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Herbert Lloyd "Chick" Feather whom she married May 9, 1945 and who died May 19, 2008, a son Daniel W. Feather who died May 12, 1992 and her brother Wesley Liedblad. The funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday in the Christ First United Methodist Church. The Rev. C. Gordon Bloomberg, retired pastor and the Rev. Deborah Cronin, former pastor of Epworth Christ United Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will be in the Lake View Cemetery. Friends will be received from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Friday in the Lind Funeral Home.
