Obituary of Charles F. Anderson
Charles Francis Anderson, 95, of 9 Monticello Park, Lakewood, NY died at 4:45 a.m. Sunday (January 17, 2010) in his home.
A lifelong area resident he was born January 15, 1915 in Jamestown, NY a son of the late Alma Anderson Arnold and step-father Leon Arnold.
Before his retirement he was employed by the former Field and Wright Company for many years and also worked for the Jamestown Public Schools. He also lived for many years in Lakeland, FL and retired form Scotty Lumber Company.
In previous years he had attended the Swedish Covenant Church and had been a member of the Herman Kent Post 777 American Legion, Son's of the Legion, and the Lakewood/Celoron Moose Lodge. During the years of World War II he served with Company E of the New York State Army National Guard.
He will be remembered as a loving and caring father, grandfather and companion who loved his family and always had a smiling face and a kind word for all.
Surviving are a daughter Carol M. Anderson of Sedona, AZ, a step-daughter Deanna (Charles) Simons of Lakeland, FL, four grandson's Michael (Mary) Anderson of San Diego, CA, Randall (Mary Ann) Anderson of Newark, OH, David (Brenda) Anderson of Linwood, NC, Robert (Rene) Lange of Okeechobee, FL, eleven great grandchildren, and his devoted and loving companion of many years Lorraine Pitt with whom he resided.
He was preceded in death by his wife the former Sally Snyder Anderson, a sister Margaret Hagberg and five brothers Carl, Wilbur, Walter, Boyd and Ray Anderson.
The funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Cathy Basile of Hospice Chautauqua County will officiate. Burial will be in the Sunset Hill Cemetery.
Friends will be received from 4-7 p.m. Friday and for one hour prior to the service on Saturday in the funeral home.
