Obituary of Allan H. Streed

Allan H. Streed, 81, of 117 Jones St., Lakewood, went home to be with his Savior Jesus Christ on Sunday, January 10, 2010 while at the Hamot Medical Center in Erie. He was born July 5, 1928 in Jamestown, a son of the late Inar and Ethel Holmberg Streed. A 1946 graduate of Jamestown High School, Allan had been a member of the Naval Reserves. For 25 years, he had been an agent and Sales Manager for the Prudential Insurance Co., retiring in 1990. Following retirement, he had worked for Lake County Dodge and JD Auto Sales. Allan had served the Lord in years past as a deacon and Sunday school teacher and presently was a member of New Hope Community Church where he served as an Elder and bible study teacher. Allan loved people and especially loved sharing his faith with everyone he could. He is survived by his wife, Janice Ribbing Streed, whom he married August 12, 1950; two sons, Gregory (Grace) Streed of Jamestown and Darryl (Jan) Streed of Ashville; six grandchildren: Kristina Streed, Michael Streed, John Streed, Elizabeth Streed Collins, Sara (Jonathan) Bernstein and Katie Streed; four great grandchildren; a brother, Frederick (Pat) Streed of Jamestown; and several nieces and nephews. The funeral will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Daniel Cook, pastor of Lakewood Baptist Church and the Rev. Jerry McCann, pastor of Hillcrest Baptist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Lake View Cemetery. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home.
