Obituary of Lillian I. Olsen
Lillian I. Olsen, 91, of 356 Fairmount Ave. Jamestown, NY, formerly of 154 Lake View Ave. Lakewood, NY died at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday (December 9, 2009) in W.C.A. Hospital.
An area resident for most of her life she was born November 4, 1918 in Ramsaytown, PA a daughter of the late Helge and Edith Carlson Larson.
In earlier years she was employed by the former Red & White Grocery, the Lakewood Delicatessen and the former Southside Market in Falconer.
She was a life member of the Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, Lakewood where she was active in the Altar Guild and taught Sunday school for several years. She also served as an election inspector for the Chautauqua County Board of Elections working at the former Lakewood School for many years. She was an active volunteer for the Retired Senior Volunteer Program delivering for Meals on Wheels and as a reader at Washington Middle School. She also loved playing cards with her many friends for over 21 years and played in a bunco club for 57 years. She was a member of the Busti Lakewood Golden Agers and previously enjoyed bowling in the Leisure Lanes Bowling League.
Surviving are four grandchildren Lisa Ann Peterson (Barry Bailey), Angelo J. (Becky) Pollino, Laurie Ann (Jim) Waid, Tammy Ann (Randal) Hallett all of Jamestown, nine great-grandchildren Jennifer Fish of Lakewood, Michael Pollino of Boston, MA, Amanda Ordines of Cassadaga, Joseph Pollino, Stephanie Lent, Melissa Rhodes, Joshua Waid, Angelo Pollino, Patrisha Hallett all of Jamestown and eight great-great-granddaughters.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Lawrence E. "Ole" Olson whom she married March 15, 1940 and who died January 18, 1989 and a daughter Judy A. Pollino who died October 16, 2008.
The funeral will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Daniel S. Rumfelt, Chaplain of the Lutheran Home and Rehabilitation Center will officiate. Burial will be in the Lake View Cemetery.
Friends will be received from 2-5 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home.
