Obituary of Carmelita W. Kelly
Carm Kelly, 89, formerly of 21 Melvin Ave., Celoron, died at 12:20 a.m. Saturday (December 19, 2009) at the Lutheran Retirement Home.
An area resident since 1940, she was born March 13, 1920 in Hume, NY, a daughter of the late Leo and Beatrice Hodnett Whalen.
For 30 years she had been co-owner of Kelly's Grill in Jamestown until 1972 and was later employed by Pearl City Paint & Glass and WalMart.
Carm was a member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church where she was active in the Bishop Overs Guild and volunteered at St. Susan's Center.
Surviving is a daughter, Paula (Bill) Weaver and a son, Kay (Debbie Allen) Kelly, both of Jamestown; a granddaughter, Sara Weaver of Jamestown; and a sister, Evelyn Seelbinder of Olean.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert N. Kelly whom she married April 30, 1950 and who died April 15, 1969; and a brother, Donald Whalen.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, January 2, 2010 in the Chapel of St. Luke's Church. Inurnment will be in the church columbarium.
Visitation will not be observed.
