Obituary of Harry L. Lindfors
Harry Lennart Lindfors, 81, of 142 Colfax St. passed away peacefully at 7:35 a.m. Friday (November 20, 2009) in the Heritage Park Rehab and Skilled Nursing Facility.
A lifelong area resident he was born June 14, 1928 in Jamestown, NY a son of the late Josef Leonard and Hildur Johannson Lindfors.
He was a 1946 graduate of Jamestown High School and served in the U.S. Naval Reserve for nine years.
Before his retirement in 1990 he was employed as an electrician for the Ahlstrom-Schaeffer Electric Corporation for many years. He worked as an electrician for the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local # 106 for 42 years and was also the financial secretary for Local # 106 for several years.
He was a member of the First Covenant Church where he had served as Chairman of the Trustee Board and also taught an adult Sunday school class. He also served for many years on the Camp Mission Meadows Board.
Surviving are his wife of 58 years the former Eleanor M. Freeburg whom he married August 4, 1951, two son's Rev. David W. (Janice) Lindfors of Rockford, IL, Daniel B. (Patricia) Lindfors of Jamestown, NY, a daughter Suzanne M. (Dewey) Landon of Parkertown, NJ, five grandchildren Heather Anne Applegate, Jeffery David Lindfors both of Rockford, IL, Ryan Daniel Lindfors of Jamestown, NY, Katie Marie Landon, Melissa Joy Landon both of Parkertown, NJ, two step-grandson's Scott L. Harding of Jamestown, NY, Todd P. Harding of Fort Mill, NC and three great grandchildren.
A private memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family at a later date.
