Obituary of Lucille S. Norberg

Lucille S. Norberg, 96, formerly of 26 Linden Ave., died at 3:30 p.m. Friday November 6, 2009, in the Lutheran Home and Rehabilitation Center. A native of Westfield, she was born April 16, 1913, a daughter of Herbert and Vera Stowell Reid She graduated from Westfield Academy and attended Jamestown Business College. Prior to her retirement she was employed for 31 years by the former Epworth Christ United Methodist Church as church secretary. She earlier had worked for Welch's Grape Company as a stenographer and also for Nelson's Department Store and G. C. Murphy. She was a member of the former Epworth Christ United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday school for 15 years, was secretary to the administrative council and served on the Missions Committee. Her other memberships include, Christ First United Methodist Church, Home League of the Salvation Army, Community Service Fellowship of First Lutheran Church, United Methodist Women, AARP International local 334, Falconer WCTU, was Past Noble Grand of Rebekah Lodge IOOF of Westfield and volunteered at the Agnes Home. Surviving are two sons Ray (Jean) Norberg of Jamestown and Leon (Dora) Norberg of Mount Jewett, PA, four grandchildren David (Sheila) Norberg of Bemus Point, Michelle Davis of Jamestown, Yvonne Brewer of Jamestown and Michael (Robert) Norberg of Kiantone, six great grandchildren Mari-Lyn and Holly Norberg of Lakewood and Zachary and Ashlan Davis and Scott and Alan Wilson, all of Jamestown, and a brother William Reid of Westfield. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Gunnard Norberg, whom she married November 30, 1940 and who died June 27, 1993, four brothers Lawrence, Walter, Howard and Jay and seven sisters Ethel, Lura, Alma, Doris, Catherine, Gladys, and Lois. The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Lind Funeral Home. Burial will be in Bemus Point Cemetery Friends will be received from 4-7 p.m. Monday in the funeral home.
