Obituary of Alice F. Chamberlin
Alice F. Chamberlin, 91, formerly of Edgewater Drive Westfield, NY and Jamestown, NY, passed away at 10:55 p.m. Wednesday (July 7, 2010) in the Absolut at Westfield.
An area resident for most of her life she was born September 27, 1918 in Juneau, AL a daughter of the late Arthur and Bertha Bergman Forslin.
For many years Alice was a self employed interior decorator working for many businesses in Chautauqua County. She also taught decorating for 22 years in her private home.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Jamestown where she was instrumental in decorating the historic room of the church. She was also a member of the Zonta Club of Jamestown, very active in earlier years with the 4-H program and was the art director for the Fenton History Center for 9 years. She also painted many murals throughout Chautauqua County with her close friend Helen Gilbert.
Surviving are a son Randall G. (Kathleen) Chamberlin of Bemus Point, NY, a daughter Judy (Bruce) Cowe of Angola, NY, five grandchildren Alan (Mary) Chamberlin of Springville, NY, Michael (Molly) Chamberlin of Hamburg, NY, Lisa Chamberlin of Brooklyn, NY, Shawn (Kathleen) Cowe of East Amherst, NY, Scott Cowe of Miami, FL and four great grandchildren.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Clare M. Chamberlin whom she married August 24, 1940 and who died February 22, 2002 and her brother George A. Forslin who died May 25, 2004.
A private service will be held at the convenience of the family. Visitation will not be observed. Inurnment will be in the Lake View Cemetery.
