Obituary of Robert E. Keefe

Robert E. Keefe, 89, of the Frewsburg Rest Home, formerly of Hunt Road Apartments, died Sunday September 13, 2009, in the Lutheran Retirement Home and Rehabilitation Center. He was born August 3, 1920 in Lakewood, a son of the late John and Clara Foss Keefe. He was a 1938 graduate of Lakewood High School and was a WWII veteran of the US Marine Corps, serving from 1944 to 1946. Prior to his retirement he was employed for 30 years by Marlin Rockwell Corporation as a grinder. Following retirement he worked for Quality Markets. He was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church and attended Lakewood Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife the former Marie Spitzer, whom he married July 12, 1940, five children Donna (Dennis) Eastman, Robert (Barb) Keefe and John Keefe, all of Jamestown, Pam (Jack) Pratt of Lakewood and Mark Keefe of Rochester, NY, nine grandchildren Doug and Shawn Walrod, Stacy Barrett, Jill Dejewski, Diane Amos, Kristine Keefe, Ian and Joshua Lascell and Jennifer Abbott, ten great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren, three sisters Doris Rendell, Carol Larson and Jeanne Green and a brother James Keefe. He was preceded in death by a grandson Jason Keefe, a sister Virginia Fisher and three brothers John, Ernie and Donald Keefe. The funeral will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Lind Funeral Home. Inurnment will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery. Friends will be received from 4-6 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home.
