Obituary of Herbert R. Jacobson
Herbert Roy Jacobson, 81, of 110 West Third St. formerly of 321 South Main St. died at 11:20 a.m. Friday (August 7, 2009) in W.C.A. Hospital.
A lifelong area resident he was born May 4, 1928 in Jamestown, NY a son of the late Ernest and Ruth Anderson Jacobson.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving from 1945 to 1949. During his tour of duty he received the American Theatre Medal, the Asiatic Pacific Medal and the World War II Victory Medal.
Before his retirement in 1985 he was employed as a machine operator for Cummins Engine Company and had earlier worked for the former Watson Manufacturing Company for several years.
He was a former member of the International Association of Machinists Local # 1895 and will be remembered as one who loved to fish and spend time on his boat.
Surviving are his caregivers Robert and Diane Forsberg of West Ellicott.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a brother Harry K. Williams
The funeral will be held at Noon Monday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. John P. Saraka, pastor of the Immanuel Lutheran Church will officiate. Burial will be in the Oakmont Cemetery, Ridgeway, PA.
Friends will be received for one hour prior to the service on Monday in the funeral home.
