Obituary of Carl C. Wigren
Carl C. Wigren, 80, of 430 Broadhead Ave., died at 4:30 a.m. Friday, July 31, 2009 in his home.
He was born April 18, 1929 in Titusville, Pa., the son of the late Carl A. and Julia Carlson Wigren and attended Falconer schools.
Carl was a veteran of the US Army, serving as an MP in the Quarter Master Corps.
A 34 year employee of Alltel in Jamestown, he retired as a cable splicer in 1990.
He was a member of Kidder Memorial United Methodist Church and the Randolph American Legion Post 181.
An avid baseball fan, he had in earlier years played for both the former Jamestown Falcons and Ellington baseball teams.
Carl was always very involved in the lives of his grandchildren. He greatly enjoyed all of their sporting events and activities.
Surviving is his wife, Shirley Lundmark Wigren, whom he married November 7, 1958; a daughter, Debra L. Wigren of Jamestown and son, Douglas C. (Marializ) Wigren of West Ellicott; and five grandchildren: Nathan D. Wigren and Collin J. Abbott, both of Jamestown and Marcus Lugo-Wigren, Drew D. Wigren and Gabrielle M. Wigren, all of West Ellicott.
The funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Rick LaDue will officiate. Burial will be in the Pine Grove Cemetery in Russell, Pa.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home.
