Obituary of Earl K. Anderson

Earl K. Anderson, 82, loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, of 17B Shirley Lane, formerly of Jacksonville, FL, died at 4:30 a.m. Sunday (July 26, 2009) in his home. He was born December 5, 1926 in Jamestown the son of Harold and Hazel Larson Anderson. A US Navy veteran of WWII, Earl was assigned to LCI. 1083 (Landing Craft Infantry). In January 1945, he sailed overseas to Pearl Harbor, Guam, Iwo Jima, and Okinawa where he stayed until the end of the war. Prior to moving to Florida, Earl was employed at Blackstone, Crescent Tool, and Proto Tool. He worked for many years as a tool and die maker at Ring Punch and Die. While in Florida, he worked at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville. Earl was a member of Herman Kent Post 777 American Legion; and a former member of Camp St. United Methodist Church. He enjoyed fishing, watching football, hand crafts, and gardening, especially tending to his rose bushes. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Marian Gustafson Anderson; two sons, David (Sharon) Anderson of Denton, TX; Bruce (Kathleen) Anderson of Jamestown; a daughter, Susan (Don) Bush of Jamestown; ten grandchildren, Kimberly, Eric, John, Kevin, Mark, Brian, Adam, Katie, Jeff, and Lori; five great grandchildren, Aidin, Jake, Emma, Charlie, and Nolan; and a brother, Carroll "Gene" (Doris) Anderson of Jamestown; and many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Gordon Anderson. The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Cathy Basile, Hospice Chaplain, will officiate. Burial will be in Lake View Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home.
