Obituary of Ellen L. Johnson

Ellen L. Johnson, 83, formerly of the Hotel Jamestown, died Tuesday June 30, 2009, in Heritage Park Rehab and Skilled Nursing. She was born January 6, 1926, in Fredonia, a daughter of Herman and Hazel Apthorpe Woodcock. She had been employed by the Hotel Jamestown as a security guard and earlier had worked for Tanglewood Manor and Mister Donut. She was an active member of Jamestown Moose Lodge having served as senior regent. Surviving are seven children Linda (Donald) Schwanke of Greenhurst, Kathleen Baron of Syracuse, NY, Dennis (Sheri) Phillips, Cheryl Dean, LouAnn Phillips and Donald Phillips all of Jamestown, and Randall (Nancy) Phillips of Hickory, NC, ten grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren and two sisters Rachel Jesionwski of Fredonia and Clarabelle Gens of Gerry. She was preceded in death by her husband Richard Johnson who died November 28, 2001, three sisters Florence Schrader, Winnifred Seward and Loretta Milliman and two brothers Herman Woodcock, Jr. and Clifford Woodcock. The funeral will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday in the Lind Funeral Home. Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery. Friends will be received from 6-8 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home.
