Obituary of Inez H. Anderson

Inez H. Anderson, 91, formerly of 157 Stowe St. Jamestown, died Monday (June 22, 2009) in WCA Hospital. She was born February 5, 1918 in Jamestown, the daughter of C. Oscar and Elin Ahlgren Anderson. Inez was a graduate of Jamestown High School. For 46 years, she worked at the YWCA, starting at the reception desk, moving up to the position of office manager, and from the 1970s on, she was administrative assistant of the association, until her retirement in 1989. Upon her retirement, she was quoted as saying "My philosophy is that we should always be here to help people. It should be our main purpose. If we are able to help others, we should pass it onto them so they will help others." She was an active member of Christ First United Methodist Church (formerly Epworth), and enjoyed music, china painting, and volunteer work. Surviving are several cousins, Paul G. Anderson, A. Lynnette Norman, Hazel Anderson, all of Jamestown; Althea Kollarek of Naples, FL; Prudence Sullivan of Genoa City, WI; and Frances Anderson of Westfield, NY. She is also survived by Pamela Anderson and Laurie Dulaney who were supportive of her in her latter years. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister Leola C. Anderson who died September 6, 1999; and an infant sister, Roselyn Marie Anderson. The funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday in Christ Chapel in Christ First United Methodist Church. The Rev. Douglas M. Knopp, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Lake View Cemetery. Friends will be received from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday in the Lind Funeral Home.
