Obituary of John N. Farnsworth

John N. Farnsworth, 43, of 6 Freeman St. Lakewood, died at 12:02 a.m. Sunday (May 31, 2009) in WCA Hospital. He was born September 17, 1965 in Jamestown, the son of John R. Farnsworth and Edna Nelson Farnsworth. John was a 1983 graduate of Southwestern Central High School and was employed at Trinity Biotech. Earlier, he worked for FedEx. He was a member of the Lakewood Rod and Gun Club and the Lakewood Fire Department where he was currently assistant Captain. An avid sports fan, John enjoyed golf, bowling, and following the NY Yankees and Pittsburgh Steelers. Surviving besides his parents are two sisters, Sandra (Ronald) Barker of Gerry; Marcia (Bruce) Bretz of Lakewood; five nieces and nephews, James, Megan, and Jordan Bretz; Nelson and Norman Barker; and his girlfriend, Leslie Weber. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Edwin and Katherine Nelson; and paternal grandparents, Rollo and Margaret Farnsworth. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Richard Young, pastor of First Baptist Church, and Peter Dawson, Lakewood Fire Department Chaplain will officiate. Burial will be in Bentley Cemetery, Lakewood. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Lakewood Fire Department, 37 J.W. Packard Blvd., Lakewood, NY 14750.
