Obituary of John B. Price
John Blystone Price, 93, of Loyalton of Lakewood, formerly of 114 Beechview Ave. Jamestown, died at 6:30 p.m. Saturday (July 24, 2010) at the Lutheran Home and Rehabilitation Center.
A native of Jamestown, he was born March 29, 1917, son of Orsell Cook Price and Margaret Reynolds Price.
He was a 1937 graduate of Jamestown High School. He proudly served in WWII and was stationed in the Philippines in the 706th Tank Battalion and received an honorable discharge on December 14, 1945.
He was the husband of Janet Blanchard Price whom he married November 19, 1949 and who died July 26, 1997.
John owned and operated a local Culligan business with his brother-in-law from the end of WWII until 1975.
He enjoyed traveling, with several trips to Europe, Alaska, and to areas of interest within the United States. He was an avid outdoorsman, spending many weekends at his camp in the town of Chautauqua.
He is survived by a daughter, Catherine L. Price of Jamestown; two sons, John B. Price Jr. of Presque Isle, ME; Robert B. Price of Hilliard, OH; six grandchildren, Jennifer B. Price of Atlanta, GA; Jessica B. Price of Patten, ME; Joshua B. Price of Presque Isle, ME; Benjamin R, Price, Margaret A. Price, and Madeline L. Price all of Hilliard, OH.
Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers, William H. and Orsell C. Price.
A private graveside service was held in the Lake View Cemetery. The Rev. Thomas A. Sweet, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church, officiated.
The family suggests memorials be made to the Mission Meadows Camp Fund; the Falconer Lions Club; or the First Presbyterian Church.
