Obituary of Phyllis J. Johnson
Phyllis J. Johnson, 95, of 165 Aldren Avenue, died Tuesday July 27, 2010, in the Lutheran Home and Rehabilitation Center.
A native of Jamestown, she was born July 31, 1914, the daughter of the late Eric and Anna Hultquist Johnson.
She was a 1932 graduate of Jamestown High School.
She was employed by the B.F. Goodrich as a bookkeeper from 1942 to 1977. She later worked for Stronz Tire for 6 years.
She was a lifelong member of First Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday school, served on the church council and altar society and sang in the choir for over 60 years. Other memberships include Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America, AARP and Community Senior Fellowship.
Surviving are a sister-in-law Elsie Johnson of Jamestown, niece Janice Rozzi of Freedom, PA, nephew Richard Johnson of Chandler, AZ, several great nieces and nephews including Lori Town of Jamestown and many cousins in Sweden.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by an infant brother, brother E. David Johnson and a niece Elaine Johnson.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Lind Funeral Home. Rev. Daniel S. Rumfelt, chaplain of the Lutheran Home, will officiate.
Burial will be in Lake View Cemetery.
Friends will be received for one hour prior to the service in the funeral home.
