Obituary of Marion J. Erickson
Marion J. Erickson, 86, of the Frewsburg Rest Home, died Saturday August 7, 2010, in Heritage Park Rehab and Skilled Nursing.
A Jamestown native, she was born July 1, 1924, the daughter of the late Oscar and Ellen Eld Erickson.
She was a 1942 graduate of Jamestown High School and a 1946 graduate of Fredonia State Teachers College. She continued her studies with graduate work at Penn State, Syracuse and Fredonia State Universities.
She was employed as a kindergarten and first grade teacher in Rockford, IL and Hornell and Jamestown, NY. While working in Jamestown she taught at Love, Rogers and Fairmount Elementary Schools.
She was a lifelong member of First Covenant Church serving as a Sunday school teacher and member of the choir. She was also a member of the National and New York State Retired Teachers Associations.
Surviving are her brother Bertil Erickson of Rockford, IL; sister-in-law Betty Carlson of Warren, PA and nieces and nephews John (Joyce) Erickson, Marcia (Alan) Rostoker, Evelyn (Timothy) Gill, Joan (John) Wallgren and Lois Olson.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by a brother Gordon L. Erickson.
The funeral will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday in the Lind Funeral Home. David B. Larson, retired director of visitation of First Covenant Church will officiate.
Burial will be in Lake View Cemetery.
Friends will be received for one hour prior to the service Thursday in the funeral home.
