Obituary of Gladys L. Peru
Gladys L. Peru, 87, formerly of 511 South Avenue, died Sunday August 22, 2010, in Heritage Park Rehab and Skilled Nursing.
A native of Winnipeg, Canada, she was born February 14, 1923, a daughter of Ralph and Laura Frank Ringer.
Prior to her retirement in 1962, she was employed by Chautauqua Provisions and earlier had worked for Sanitary Wiping Clothe and Welch's.
She was a member of the former Weakland Chapel.
She thoroughly enjoyed cooking and providing meals for family and friends.
Surviving are four sons Stanley Peru of Falconer, Gerald (Karen) Peru and Paul (Diane) Peru, both of Jamestown and Howard (Joyce) Peru of East Randolph; 22 grandchildren and several great and great great grandchildren; a brother Donald Ringer of Orlando, FL and a sister Wanita (George) Bryant of Jamestown.
She was preceded in death by her husband Howard Peru, whom she married June 22, 1941 and who died August 23, 1996; a daughter Gertrude Pickle; a granddaughter Michelle Lindsay; two brothers Richard and Leo Ringer and two sisters Delores Van Ord and Vera Johnson.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Lind Funeral Home. Rev. Gerald A. Haglund will officiate.
Inurnment will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will not be observed.
Memorials may be made to a charity of choice.
