Obituary of Daniel L. Harnish

Daniel L. Harnish, 83, of 217 Chautauqua Ave. in Jamestown, died at 11:27 a.m. Tuesday (August 24, 2010) in his home. He was the husband of Beatrice Prosser Andrews Harnish, whom he married October 4, 1958. An area resident most of his life, he was born February 24, 1927 in Chicago, IL, a son of the late Ephul and Nellie Woodburn Harnish. Dan was a US Navy veteran serving in both World War II and the Korean War. He was a past member of the Lakewood Fire Department and the Jamestown Moose Club and had managed the Summer Moose Home on Chautauqua Lake. In earlier years, he had his own Mission Soda Pop Distributorship, worked as a salesman for the former Firch's Bakery and also been manager of the Lakewood Rod & Gun Club. He later tended bar for several area restaurants. In addition to his wife, surviving is a daughter, Terri (Joe) Rzucek of Jamestown and two sons, Mark (Becci) Andrews of Houston, TX and Michael Andrews of Lakewood, NY; seven grandchildren; a sister, Leta Perrson of Dunkirk, NY; and several nieces and nephews. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, William and David Harnish and a sister, Ruby "Bonnie" Hosier. A private service for immediate family will be held.
