Obituary of Beverly L. Walrod

Beverly L. "Burch" Walrod, 80, of 4590 Ashville Road, Ashville, died Friday August 27, 2010, in WCA Hospital. A Jamestown native, she was born December 11, 1929, the daughter of the late Edwin and Ethel Jacobson Larson. She was a 1948 graduate of Jamestown High School. In earlier years she was employed by American Manufacturing in purchasing and also had worked in the payroll department of Jamestown Plywood. She was a lifelong member of First Lutheran Church where she served as a Sunday school teacher with her dear friend Judy Rhoades for over thirty years. She was a volunteer with Foster Grandparents for 16 years working with her close friend Debbie Hasson. She was the Walrod family historian. She enjoyed knitting, solving crossword and Sudoku puzzles and cross stitch. Surviving are six children James (Katherine) Walrod of Jamestown, Marilyn (Wayne) Seeley of Indian Trail, NC, Ann (Tom) Hesson of Lakewood, John (Audrey) Walrod of Columbus, PA, David (Lorie Worden) Walrod of Falconer and Karen (Michael) Zembryski of Panama, sixteen grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Milan M. Walrod, whom she married June 30, 1951 and who died April 16, 1990. The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Monday in Memorial Chapel of First Lutheran Church. Rev. Alison L. Leitzel will officiate. Burial will be in Myrtle Cemetery. Friends will be received from 4-7 p.m. Sunday in the Lind Funeral Home.
