Obituary of Anthony S. Smith

Anthony S. (Tony) Smith, 60, of Jamestown passed away Friday (September 3, 2010) in the Veterans Administration Healthcare Center, Pittsburgh, PA. A lifelong area resident, he was born December 10, 1949 in Lewisburg, PA, the son of Warren J. and Mary Jane Smith. For several years he was a truck driver for Reliable Trucking in Louisville, KY and had also worked for several trucking companies in the Jamestown area. In earlier years he was employed by the former Crescent Tool Company. Tony was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving from August 19, 1968 to August 16, 1970. He was a member of the New York Division of the National American Legion Post # 1. Tony loved his country and was proud to be a U.S. Veteran. He will be remembered for his smile, laugh and quiet loving manner. He loved listening to all kinds of music from classical to rock. His greatest joy was to spend as much time as he could with his granddaughter Isis Athena Catlett, who always brought the biggest smile to his face. He loved helping and being around his family whether it involved hanging his mother's Christmas lights, cutting wood with his brother or mowing the family picnic area. Surviving are his parents of Jamestown; his daughter, Corinna L. Catlett and granddaughter, Isis Athena Catlett, both of Cassadaga; three brothers: Barry Smith and Jack Smith, both of Lost Creek, KY, and Donald Smith of Ashville; and three sisters: Margaret Steen of Brockport, NY, Kate Howard of Columbus, OH, and Georgette Smith of Jamestown. He was preceded in death by his brother, Michael K. Smith, who died October 21, 1995. The funeral will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday in the Lind Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Wild Rose Cemetery, Town of North Harmony. Friends will be received from 6-8 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home.
