Obituary of Harold C. Tracy
Harold C. Tracy, 88, of 2543 Panama-Stedman Road, Ashville, died Sunday September 5, 2010, in WCA Hospital.
He was born March 14, 1922 in Augusta, Maine, a son of the late Scott and Grace Otis Tracy.
He was a WWII veteran of the US Marine Corps serving from 1942-46.
Prior to his retirement he was employed as foreman of grounds keeping at Chautauqua Institution where he had worked for over 30 years.
He was a member of Panama Baptist Church, Mayville VFW and American Legion and volunteered with the Chautauqua Fire Department for 43 years.
Surviving are his wife Blanche Olson Carlson Tracy, whom he married November 8, 1997, two sons Robert (Donna) Tracy of Mayville and David (Vanessa) Tracy of Panama; eight stepchildren Lucille Carlson, Phillip (Sharon) Carlson, Paul (Terrie) Carlson and John Carlson, all of Panama, Barbara Newberry of Copperas Cove, TX, Marcia (James) Bliss and Cheryl Feather of Jamestown and Annette Smith of Great Falls, MT; twenty three grandchildren and twenty great grandchildren.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife Edith Cobb Tracy, his second wife Ruth Johnson Tracy and a brother Lawrence Tracy.
The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday in Panama Baptist Church. Rev. Andy Cook will officiate.
Burial will be in Portland Evergreen Cemetery.
Friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday in the Lind Funeral Home.
