Obituary of Rudolph B. Stornes
Rudolph B. Stornes, 94, of 102 Myrtle Street, died Wednesday September 22, 2010, in his home.
He was born December 7, 1915, in Arendahl, Norway, a son of the late Kristian and Hermanna Samuelson Stornes.
He was a WWII veteran of the US Army serving in Iceland and France
Prior to his retirement he was employed by Jamestown Metal Products. He earlier had worked for Marlin Rockwell Corporation, Jamestown Malleable Iron, Automatic Voting Machine and the Jamestown Police Department.
He was a member of the Vikings, Jamestown Moose Lodge and John W. Tiffany Post #53 Veterans of Foreign Wars.
For several years he was a handyman for many people who had a need.
Surviving are his wife the former Verna Carlson, whom he married November 6, 1948, two daughters Rebecca (John) Howard of York, PA and Kathleen Stornes of Jamestown; two grandchildren Nathan (Kelly) Howard of Lancaster, PA and Krista (Jabari) Whitehead of Ridley Park, PA; three great grandchildren Kate Howard, Cooper Howard and Avery Whitehead; three nephews John Y. Carlson, Dennis Stornes and Ronald Wilcox and three nieces Sharon Franze, Linda O'Neil and Patty Lindburg.
He was preceded in death by four brothers John, Fritziof, Rangwald and Bernard Stornes and two sisters Emily Gustafson and Evelyn Gustafson.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Lind Funeral Home. Rev. Elinor Hare will officiate.
Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery.
Friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday in the Lind Funeral Home.
