Obituary of Gerald A. Ecker

Gerald A. "Gary" Ecker, 62, of 3496 Fluvanna-Townline Road, died Friday October 8, 2010, in WCA Hospital. He was born December 5, 1947, in Jamestown, a son of the late Lyle and Lucille Jones Ecker. He was employed by Lake County Dairy, Sealtest and Upstate Milk Cooperative as a milk processor and earlier had worked for Art Metal Incorporated. He enjoyed the time he spent fishing. Surviving are his wife the former Bonita Eddy, whom he married March 25, 1967; two children Sonja Hebner and Shawn Ecker, both of Jamestown; two grandchildren Marlynn McGuay and Camron Ecker, both of Jamestown; a brother Lyle Ecker, Jr. of Brooksville, FL; a sister Nancy Lazeski of Bemus Point and two foster brothers Mark Thum of Gerry and David Thum of Winston Salem, NC. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a sister Mary McGuay and two foster brothers Randy Johnson and Basil "Stub" Sharp. The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Fluvanna Community Church. Rev. Dayle F. Keefer will officiate. Burial will be in Fluvanna Cemetery. Friends will be received from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday in the Lind Funeral Home and for one hour prior to the service Wednesday in the church.
