Obituary of Carol M. Larson
Carol K. Larson, 85, formerly of Madden Road, Panama and 191 Front Street, Lakewood passed away at 10:20 p.m. Thursday (Oct. 7, 2010) at Heritage Park Rehab and Skilled Nursing Facility. An area resident all her life, Carol was born December 19, 1924 in Jamestown to John and Clara Foss Keefe.
She graduated from Lakewood High School where she was a cheerleader and member of Tri-V Society Gamma Chapter. She worked at the Town Club restaurant and Lakewood Elementary School for many years and Chautauqua Perennial Gardens before retiring.
Carol's interests included golf, reading, knitting and gardening. She loved spending time with her family, enjoyed traveling with her husband and had a twinkle in her eye for little children. She enjoyed numerous friendships made while spending many winters in Florida. Carol will be remembered by her family for her delicious beef on kummelwick, cheese potatoes and special family gatherings. Carol was a member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, Lakewood Memorial Post 1286 American Legion Auxiliary.
Carol is survived by four children: Steven (Linda) Larson of Nineveh IN; Gregory (Becky) Larson of Cookeville, TN; Deborah (Patrick) Weaver of Fountain, CO and Jodie Gould of Jamestown, NY; thirteen grandchildren: Scott (Courtney) Larson, Indianapolis, IN; Christopher (Dayna) Larson, Medina MN; Jeremy (Sara) Larson, Morgantown, IN; Jason (Dena) Larson, Asheville, NC; Brian (Vaughan) Larson, Cookeville, TN; Jeanne (Heath) Williams, Dallas TX; Stephanie (Kris) Adkins, Kevin Grey, and Nathan (Michelle) Grey all of Colorado Springs, CO; Katherine (Philip) Crabtree of Killeen TX, Eric (Laurie) Griffin, Panama NY; Ashley Matthews, Jamestown, NY and Heather Matthews, Ellsworth AFB, SD and 22 great-grandchildren. Also a brother, James Keefe, Blockville and two sisters, Doris Rendell, Watts Flats and Jean Green, Lakewood
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Donald W. Larson whom she married June 8, 1945 and who passed away August 22, 2009, and siblings John, Donald, Ernest and Robert Keefe and Virginia Fischer.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in the Lind Funeral Home. Rev. Timothy J. Hoyer of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church and Rev. Jeanne Williams, Carol's granddaughter, will officiate.
Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery.
Friends will be received from 4-7 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home.
