Obituary of John W. Cook
John W. Cook, 74, of 842 North Main St., died at 1:55 a.m. Wednesday (October 13, 2010) in WCA Hospital.
He was born October 22, 1935 in Clarks Corners, a son of the late William Cook and Jessie Elwell Selden, and graduated in 1954 from the former Bemus Point High School.
John served in the US Air Force from 1954 to 1957.
In earlier years, he had been employed by the former Dahlstrom Manufacturing. He later lived and worked in Utah and Arizona until returning to Jamestown in 2004
A member of the NRA, John enjoyed guns, hunting and the outdoors. He was also an avid fan of Cleveland Browns Football.
Surviving is a son, Michael (Karen) Cook of Rapid City, SD; three daughters: Kimberly (Mike) Touhey of Clearwater, FL, Jeanne Kaczar of Palm Harbor, FL and Susan Cook of Frewsburg; five grandchildren: Ryan (Ashley), Joseph and Kelly Kaczar, Andrew Lusk and Alison Woodward; and two sisters: Harriet Larson of Jamestown and Merry Ellen (Al) Strout of Mechanic Falls, ME.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a step-father, Ivan Selden.
A private family service will be held. Visitation will not be observed.
