Obituary of Verna M. Wasko

Verna M. Wasko, 97, formerly of 125 Cole Avenue and 111 Sampson Street, died Thursday October 21, 2010, in Heritage Park Rehab and Skilled Nursing. She was born August 24, 1913, in Pleasant City, OH, a daughter of Nicholas and Anna Calas Simon. Prior to her retirement in 1993, she was employed by TJ Clarke Box Factory for 34 years. She loved to read, garden and cook. Surviving are three children Joseph (Patricia) Wasko, Gloria (Ross) Gardner and JoAnne (Charles) Gustafson, all of Jamestown; seven grandchildren Cindy (Rick) Feura of Manassas, VA, Joseph Wasko, Jr. of Jamestown, Sandra Wasko of Virginia Beach, VA, Michele (Andrew) Crosby of Stow, MA, Frank (Meghan) Gardner of Bedford, MA, Melissa (Geoffrey) Sorenson of Homer, NY and Annie Gustafson of Jamestown and nine great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Joseph J. Wasko in 1983, four brothers John, George, Michael and Nicholas Simon and four sisters Katherine Kirik, Marie Simon, Helen Fosburg and Anna Radacoy. A private service will be held at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Visitation will not be observed.
