Obituary of Virginia J. Peterson

Virginia June Bitely Peterson, 91, formerly of Belleview Road, Bemus Point, went home to be with the Lord Friday morning, November 5, 2010 in Heritage Green Rehab and Skilled Nursing. Mrs. Peterson was the daughter of George E. and Gladys Miles Bitely of 388 South Main Street, Jamestown. She enjoyed being a homemaker and a wonderful cook. In addition she had been employed by Bigelow's Department Store, National Worsted mills and Journal Press. Virginia also served as a valued volunteer at Heritage Green Rehab and Skilled Nursing. Virginia attended Fluvanna Community Church and was a member of Ellery Senior Citizens and Jubilee Fellowship of Fluvanna Community Church. She was married to Mathew J. Peterson November 13, 1937 in First Wesleyan Church, Falconer. Together they celebrated 58 years of happy marriage before her husband passed away June 13, 1996. Mrs. Peterson is survived by two sons George E. (Cindy) Peterson of Lakewood and David M. (Irene) Peterson of Panama; a daughter Diane M. (Ray, Sr.) Anderson of Ashville, eight grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren. Besides her husband she was preceded in death by a grandson Colin Anderson. The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in the Lind Funeral Home. Rev. Dayle F. Keefer will officiate. Burial will be in Bemus Point Cemetery.
