Obituary of Dereck M. Casler
Dereck M. Casler, 27, of 56 Avalon Blvd. W.E. passed away unexpectedly at 8:28 a.m. Friday (November 26, 2010) in the emergency room of W.C.A. Hospital.
A lifelong area resident he was born August 17, 1983 in Jamestown, NY the son of Ted H. and Cynthia Shults Casler.
Dereck was a 2001 graduate of Maple Grove Junior-Senior High School and earned his bachelor's degree from Northwood University in Midland, MI in 2005.
He was currently employed as a finance & insurance specialist for the Shults Auto Group and had previously worked for the Resource Auto Group in Chicago, IL.
During his high school years he played on the Maple Grove Dragons New York State Championship Football Team. He will be remembered as one who loved being outdoors with his family and many friends. He enjoyed fishing with his grandfather in Florida and spending time snowmobiling with friends. He will also be remembered for his big heart, always willing to do anything for anybody. He was an organ donor in hopes of helping someone less fortunate.
Surviving are his parents of West Ellicott, a brother Ted Jeffrey Casler of "The Pocono's", his maternal grandparents Edmund and Diane Shults, Sr. of Sanibel Fl, his paternal grandfather Harold "Tip" Casler of Greenhurst, his great grandmother Virginia Stafford of Ft. Myers, FL and also survived by several aunts and uncles as well as many cousins.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother Janice B. Casler who died November 17, 2005.
The funeral will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday in the Lind Funeral Home. Msgr. Joseph M. Dowdell, pastor of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Lakewood will officiate. Inurnment will be in the Holy Cross Cemetery.
Friends will be received from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Monday in the funeral home.
